Sunburnt & Anxious

You know how you get that anxious feeling when you want to do something but can't, like wanting to finish a book you couldn't put down? I've got that. Only it's my crochet project. I ended up pulling out all the stitches to the ripple afghan I was working on. I started anew on the gift for my mom, much simpler, and I totally demolished that monster skein of yarn today. The problem: I need more yarn.  Thankfully, my fabulous friend thought of me today while she was around Hobby Lobby and grabbed me a couple more skeins. I'll get them tomorrow! :-)  I finished the crocheting outside on my deck this afternoon while the toddler napped.  The infant sat in the bouncy seat in the shade. I, however, was not shaded. No, not at all. I'm burnt. I have no clue how long I was out there... an hour? two? I will be anxiously awaiting my yarn and nursing my red skin. Also, E has his 2-year appointment tomorrow. So good night for now. What projects have you had the hardest time putting down?

Today, I crochet!

The craft of the day is crochet! I started working on a ripple afghan for mi madre. I bought the yarn (the biggest skein EVER) from Hobby Lobby on clearance yesterday. I attempted to photograph it in all its beauty; it's a mix of darkish blue, white, and navy or black. It's called denims. It's beautiful, and my mom likes blue too much a lot.

Don't let me fool you. The highlight of my day was not figuring out this crochet pattern... no, it was seeing my husband's face.  I can't remember (really, I can't) the last time I saw his face while talking to him. I say he gets prettier every day, and I believe it! I missed his face. Does that sound weird? Whatever. It made my day. Just a couple weeks and I get to see his face IN PERSON! AH! If you can't quite grasp my excitement yet, you're crazy! My favorite part about seeing the sweet husband's face was that E got to see him, and this time, he actually paid attention and gave his daddy kisses. It was so sweet.

My friend Amy comes home tomorrow. My crafty friend. Maybe she'll let me show you the sweet ring sling she made just before she went to Texas this weekend. She said her little guy, also 3 1/2 months like the G man, loved the sling.  Looking forward to her making me one! :-) I should wear my baby more...

Do you crochet or knit? What kinds of things to do like to make/have made?

Hello!

I'm not sure what the proper first post should be... do I dive in to a given topic or introduce the blog and myself a bit? I'm going to start with a little introduction... My name is Kayla. My goal for this blog is to show what crafty, fun stuff I'm working on or am inspired by. The end result is to start a sewing business focused on fun boy projects. That's where the name comes from: inspired by my two boys. Initially, though, I'll probably be all over the place in my craft and sewing endeavors.

My two boys are two years old, E, and three and a half months, G.  They have to be some of the cutest boys (of course, I'm biased).  I stay at home with them each and every day, and I am hopeful to be able to do that for some time.  I take classes online through Liberty University, so when I'm not chasing a toddler, feeding the always-hungry chunky baby (he's so cute!),  I'm doing school work or crafting or browsing ideas for craft projects.

My past blogging experience has consisted of single blog entries of various content. I've never been committed or had much to say.  While initially, this may be rocky, I'd like to be much more consistent than in the past, but that will require me to be consistently crafting... Shucks! :-) I look forward to that commitment.

So tonight, I made a felt flowers. A week or two ago, I stumbled upon them while looking at (read: wasting time) on Pinterest. Not Martha has beautiful pictures of the finished brooch, and she links to the great tutorial.

So would you wear something like this? Don't look too closely or you'll see the flaws in the petals and the glue.  The flowers on cardigans and other embellishments are so trendy right now.  Let me know what you think. Also, sewing machines... I've got one that I'm planning on purchasing in the next month, but I'm always interested in hearing what others use to make their masterpieces!!
